Bring Your Friends!

Fundraising, training, and participating with a team of your friends, family, and colleagues is a great way to experience Climate Ride. You and your teammates can put together a training schedule and keep each other motivated, create your own jerseys, host fundraising events and share in the fun of a multi-day adventure.

You can form any type and size of team that you’d like. For example: teams to rally around a specific beneficiary organization, corporate teams spotlighting the efforts of a company, teams of friends and family and even teams of two!

We can provide materials and incentives to help you form and motivate a team. All you need to do is recruit teammates who want to join the movement. It only takes one person to inspire your entire community – this is the idea behind teams. It isn’t especially challenging and can be very rewarding!

1) Form Your Team

Choose a team name and a team captain, then that person can register and create the team online. Customize your online team page with photos and text! Each person who joins your team will receive their own personal fundraising page that connects to your team page.

2) Recruit and Register Other Team Members

Teammates can then register any time and join the already-existing team. Make a list of potential team members and then invite them to join you for the event. Set a date for a team recruitment event. Popular ideas are ‘brown bag lunches’ in a conference room, groups bike rides or happy hours. To grow your team, be sure to ask team members to invite their friends, family and/or co-workers to attend your gatherings!

Tip: Contact us and we may be able to come to your event to help with recruiting.  We can offer discounted registration to attendees. You can consider offering other incentives to attend if you’d like.

3) Raise Money, Motivate Your Team, and GO!

NOTE: Each team member is required to reach the fundraising minimum. Teams may not pool funds to be distributed among team members.

Take the Lead and Become a Team Captain!

Being a team captain is a great honor! It can be as time intensive as you want it to be. At the most involved level, you are the manager, the team leader, the cheering squad, and the fundraising coach. You can organize training rides and group fundraisers and even arrange for team transportation to the event. Most team captains also end up being the point person for their team with the Climate Ride staff.

Team captains have the ability to edit the team’s fundraising page on our fundraising software. This includes being able to customize the team photo,  story, and fundraising goal, as well as track team fundraising success.

If you have any questions about being a captain or want any tips or advice please reach out to us!

Custom Team Jerseys

In the past, many teams have worn custom-made team jerseys. Designing and wearing custom jerseys can be a great way to unite your team. There’s nothing slicker than rolling together in matching jerseys. We have seen some great designs in the past and encourage you to use your artistic side in this process! You are welcome to use the Climate Ride logo on your design and you can find it in various file formats here.

Be aware that custom jerseys often require a long lead time – as many as 3 months – so if you’re thinking about ordering some for your team get started early! There are often times minimum order quantities as well, but if your team can’t fill up the order minimum you could consider raffling off jerseys at a fundraising event or using them as prizes for top team donors. It’s a great way to help get your donors engaged with your team!

We are excited to be partnering with Primal and the Primal Gives Back program. When you place your custom jersey order with Primal, 15% of the order will be donated back to your team! This brochure has all the details you need to take advantage of this partnership.

Host an informational meeting

A fun way to introduce your supporters or colleagues to Climate Ride is to host a ‘meet and greet’ event. After work happy hours or coffee meetings on the weekend are good venues for an informational event. Or host a video call! In the office place, you could host a brown bag lunch where colleagues bring their lunch to a meeting to learn about Climate Ride. Or make it a ride and just chat as you go!

We can also provide a special promo code for you to give to people who show up. This is a great incentive to share when you’re marketing the event!
