Our home for five days is in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, which stretches across much of the southern part of the state. This mountain range is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including many that are found nowhere else in the world. We will explore by hiking and mountain biking, taking in the stunning views, and discovering the many hidden treasures that are hidden within the rugged terrain.

One of the most famous natural attractions is the Gulf of California. This body of water is known for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and stunning beaches. It is home to a variety of marine mammals, including whales, dolphins, and sea lions, as well as a diverse range of fish and other sea creatures. Our camp has views of the Gulf of California, where we will snorkel and swim one day on the uninhabited island, Isla Espíritu Santo.

The mountain biking is for intermediate riders with options for advanced riders. Of course, you can always walk any obstacles you don’t want to ride! We have daily activities to suit your level of adventure.

This is a special Climate Ride Funders Trip and the proceeds directly support Climate Ride’s work (no beneficiary selection for this event). Your fundraising will benefit the programs and efforts of Climate Ride including our community scholarships for young sustainability leaders. Funders trips also help to underwrite the Green Fondo events so that we can deliver 100% of proceeds to our grants program. You are helping us grow the organization to become an advocacy powerhouse that engages people in the world of active environmental philanthropy and sustainable solutions.

Arriving & Departing (Important Information)

More information will be available in your ride guide.

For traveling from the US, it is most convenient to arrive at Los Cabo (SJD) airport. It is a 2-hour drive via bus or private car from SJD to the ranch.  We will help coordinate participants to share a shuttle. It is $7500 mxn pesos for a shared shuttle.

If you are arriving from Mexico, there are also flights to the airport in La Paz (LAP), you can take a 30-minute taxi ride (approx. $26 USD) or Uber ride. We will have a recommended hotel in La Paz coming soon.

You can also rent a car in La Paz or Los Cabos if you plan to extend your stay.

On the last day, check-out is 2 pm. We can help arrange transportation back to SJD.

Accommodations & Meals

Our home for the 5 days is a private ranch in the mountains that provides sustainable, farm-to-table meals. There are palapas and houses. We will assign rooms based on your rooming requests, doing our best to accommodate you.  A single supplement (1000 mxn/per night) may be available if you prefer your own room.

All meals and snacks are included once we arrive, excluding alcohol and incidentals. Please see what is included and not included below.

What are the travel documents/passports required?

You will need a valid U.S. or E.U. passport (valid for at least 3 months or you can be denied entry). If you are a passport holder from another country please check your country’s regulations.

U.S. citizens do not need a tourist visa.

Is my U.S. medical insurance valid while traveling outside the U.S.? Can I get travel insurance?

Many domestic health insurance companies do not provide coverage outside of the United States, and, before leaving for the event travelers should speak with their healthcare providers to determine if they will be covered.  Several private insurance companies offer short-term travel medical insurance.  Check out Allianz Travel Insurance, World Nomads, or other comparable companies.

We highly recommend travel insurance. Remember, travel insurance can only cover expenses you have paid for (flights, additional hotels, etc). It cannot cover your fundraising.

Can I use my U.S. debit or credit card?

Yes, credit cards and debit cards are accepted. There are ATM machines in larger cities. Once we are at the ranch, you can pay for drink or extras with a credit card but be sure to bring USD for tips. Your ride guide will have more information.

Should I extend my stay?

We think so! There is a lot to explore in Baja. We’ll have suggestions after your register.

After participating in seven Climate Ride events (eight if you count Climate Rise!) I continue to be impressed with the Climate Ride staff as well as the community of riders–I couldn’t ask to be part of a kinder, more thoughtful, and incredibly fun group of people, all brought together by our desire to combine our passions for cycling with making the world a better place.

Inspirational, yes, but Climate Ride is more than that. It challenges you to do – not just to do the ride, but to change your ways, to advocate for sustainability, to connect with others, to let your guard down and learn, experience and internalize.
