Itinerary Overview
The itinerary subject to change
Day 1
This is a van-supported bike tour. There are shorter options offered each day.
Bike 30 miles with 1,500 feet of elevation gain or 42 miles and 2,700 feet of climbing
We’ll warm up with a ride through Southern Oregon’s vast Pine Forests past lakes and peaks of the Southern Cascades. We’ll watch the sunset behind the massive Mt. McLoughlin from our hotel in Fort Klamath.
Day 2
Bike 36 Miles with 4,000 feet of elevation gain or 52 miles and 5,540 feet of climbing
Today we continue north, passing signs of volcanic activity through the Pinnacles south of Crater Lake. We’ll enter the park from the car-free back entrance and then pedal around the collapsed stratovolcano Mount Mazama as we catch views of the unbelievably blue Crater Lake. After riding around the lake, we’ll descend off the ancient volcano to our home for the night at Diamond Lake.
Day 3
Bike 35 miles and 1,200 feet of elevation gain or 66 miles and 2,900 feet of climbing
Today, we leave the National Park crowds behind and pedal deep into the wildlands of the central Cascades. We’ll ride past Sawtooth Peak and get epic views of jagged Mt. Thielsen. Our ride takes us past lakes, waterfalls, and forests along the middle fork of the Willamette River. Save time for taking photos and swimming along the way before we end in the logging town turned bike mecca in Oakridge, OR.
Day 4
Rest or rip on a layover day in Oakridge
Today you’ll get to choose your own adventure in Oakridge. Rent a mountain bike and ride some of the best singletrack trails in Oregon, or restore your muscles with a soak in a nearby hot spring or swimming hole. This historic logging town has become a hot spot for cyclists, and we’ll enjoy an entire day taking advantage of everything Oakridge has to offer.
Day 5
Bike 40 miles with 1,400 feet of elevation gain or 67 miles with 4,600 feet of elevation gain
We depart Oakridge riding deeper into the wilds of Oregon on the beautiful Aufderheide Scenic Bikeway. A low-traffic route that passes through old-growth forests, hot springs and the cool, clear waters of the Willamette and Mackenzie Rivers. Today will be an amazing day on and off the bike. We’ll stay in a hotel near the river and enjoy a filling, fresh meal cooked by our guides.
Day 6
Bike 39 Miles +3,800 feet of elevation gain or 66 Miles and 5,500 feet of elevation gain
Our final day takes us from temperate forests into the high desert of the Great Basin. McKenzie Pass Scenic Bikeway is one of the most spectacular rides in Oregon, meandering through a lava-rock moonscape with peaks all around. We’ll stop for lunch in Sisters, Oregon, before a long descent into Bend, where we’ll conclude our ride. From here, we’ll arrange shuttles to the Redmond Airport or a quick 2-hour drive back to Klamath Falls where riders can catch the Amtrak or retrieve their vehicles.
