Fossil Free California works to end financial support for climate-damaging fossil fuels and promote a just transition to a low-carbon economy. Our main programs advocate divestment from fossil fuel extraction companies by California’s two huge public pension funds – the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) – respectively the seventh and eleventh largest public pensions in the world, each with over $6 billion invested in fossil fuel companies.
Climate Ride donations will fund FFCA’s DivestCalSTRS Intergenerational Justice Campaign. As part of this campaign, FFCA brings together retired teachers, active teachers, and middle and high school students to testify before CalSTRS in favor of divestment.
