The Netherlands knows how to set up for cycling su The Netherlands knows how to set up for cycling success!

@cycling_embassy "The Dutch are the most physically active on earth, on average getting 12.8 hours of exercise per week... Good infrastructure in the Netherlands plays a big role in how active they are, as the average resident cycles more than 1,000 kilometers per year."

Sarah Weiffenbach is setting out on an epic 700+ miles bike-packing independent challenge on the Mountain-to-Sea Trail in North Carolina. Starting this month, Sarah will be section-biking through the three regions of North Carolina. She will experience the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains, the plateau of gentle hills through Piedmont, and then finish in September 2023 in the Coastal Plains. We chatted with her about her preparation and more before she sets out on her adventure! Check it out through the link in our bio!

Rocco is taking on an Independent Challenge with Climate Ride and planning to ride 36 miles, to support the fight against climate change. He’s already raised nearly $8,000 as of the writing of this and could wind up being the youngest Climate Rider ever to join our $10k Hall of Fame!

We chatted with him about his preparation and more in one of our latest Rider Profiles! Check it out through the link in our bio! 📖🚵🏼‍♂️

You can support Rocco and his efforts through the link in the article. And, thanks to the generosity of Algorand Foundation, if you help him cross that line, your donation will get doubled until we run out of funds! 💯 @algorandfoundation

What our participants have to say

I learned so much from the people I met, listened to when they spoke about the organizations they represented, shared meals with, rode with, laughed with and drank with. The Climate Ride staff were amazing, always there, super organized, supportive and encouraging. I will miss all of my new friends and our shared riding adventure. Thank you all again for your love and support. Can’t wait to do another Climate Ride next year!

CASBA has benefitted greatly from our partnership with Climate Ride; thank you for all you’ve done for us, and so many others. For our organization, it’s funded getting various forms of straw building into the building code, and the Green Fondo funded our initiative to make it easier to insure buildings featuring straw for insulation.
Bio-based materials are lowering the embodied carbon of our buildings, and with their widespread use buildings can be the Earth’s sixth carbon sink. As we like to say: ‘Build Shelter – Not Too Big – Mostly Plants!’
