Arriving & Departing (Important Information)
When booking your air ticket from the US, please select ‘Support for the Cuban People’ as your reason for travel.
We will meet at 6 pm on Day 1. Before the trip we will provide the address of our accommodations on Day 1. You can arrive directly from the airport, or if you have arrived a day early, you can meet us at the Casa. More information will be available in your ride guide.
Accommodations & Meals
Our accommodation is in privately owned guesthouses (casa particulares). Casa particulares are a major highlight of a visit to Cuba. This is not just because of comfort levels, but also because the casas are generally run by local families and located in residential neighborhoods, so they provide a great opportunity for travelers to interact with everyday Cubans so we can gain insight into how the locals live – their food, culture, and families.
This is an all-hotel trip. A single supplement is available for $350 for the week if you prefer your own room. If you sign up as a solo traveler, we will do our best to pair you with a roommate of the same gender. If we cannot find a roommate, then you will be charged a single supplement fee for the trip.
Typical snacks during the day is fruits and peanuts. Water will be available at all times.
5 lunches and 6 dinners are included, excluding alcohol and incidentals.
What are the travel documents/passports required?
Complete information on how to prepare to travel to Cuba will be in your Ride Guide.
- You will need a valid U.S. or E.U. passport (valid for at least 3 months or you can be denied entry). If you are a passport holder from another country please check your country’s regulations.
- Tourist Visa (must be purchased at the airport before you board your Cuba-bound flight)
- Cuba D’Viajeros online travel form (can only be filled out within 48 hours of your arrival)
Is my U.S. medical insurance valid while traveling outside the U.S.? Should I get travel insurance?
Travel/supplemental medical insurance on international Climate Ride trips is required.
To enter Cuba you are required to have Travel Medical Insurance. This is often checked by immigration upon arrival in Cuba.
US airlines that fly directly to Cuba include Asistur travel medical insurance in the cost of the airline ticket. Your boarding pass serves as proof of insurance. You can verify this information on the airline’s website.
If acceptable documentation is not provided, then you will have to buy travel insurance from the local insurance provider – Asistur S.A. – which has an office in the immigration area of the airport.
If you wish to buy an additional policy, remember, travel insurance can only cover expenses you have paid for (flights, additional hotels, etc). It cannot cover your fundraising. Be sure to read the fine print on the travel insurance that you buy.
Can I use my U.S. debit or credit card?
It is unlikely that your US debit or credit card will work. Please bring cash for incidentals and tips. You can convert USD to CUP (Cubano Pesos) when you arrive. Your Ride Guide will contain more information.
Should I extend my stay?
We think so! We’ll have suggestions after your register.
