Climate Ride California Spotlight – GusTavo Guerra-Vasquez

The Diversity Program got its start with the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and Climate Ride as a way to offer financial assistance and training support to better reflect the L.A. community’s diversity on the ride. What first caught GusTavo’s eye and encouraged him to apply was the word “diversity.” GusTavo works as a Diversity Trainer and Human Services Administrator, and was also the first person in his family to graduate from high school and a university in the U.S.

GusTavo is happy to see the Diversity Program expanding. This year, LACBC and Bike Santa Cruz County both have teams. As he explains, “I’ve wanted to do a charity ride for a while but felt intimidated by the amount of money you have to raise…The Diversity Programgave me the opportunity to do something epic for a cause I believe in.”  Gustavo feels that he has a new family now because of his Climate Ride experience and Team LACBC.
