Building healthy, sustainable communities throughout the Eastern Seaboard by developing an urban sister to the Appalachian Trail that links the region’s major cities through a safe and accessible greenway for biking and walking. Founded in 1991, the East Coast Greenway now includes over 850 miles of off-road path (29% of our 2,900-mile route) from Key West to the Maine border with Canada. From the Hudson River Greenway in Manhattan to the National Mall in DC, the East Coast Greenway connects people to the heart of communities to experience the rich culture, history, and natural beauty all around us. Our segments get 10 million visits per year, and we aim to reach 100 million in the decade ahead as we move people from polluting car trips to enjoyable rides and walks to work, school, and play.

Support would allow us to accelerate East Coast Greenway development as a vital element of tackling greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. Safety through a completed Greenway is a key ingredient to an active, low-carbon future for the 50 million people that live within our corridor.
