People are talking about Climate Ride...
"I signed up for the Climate Ride within moments of hearing about it. I was thrilled for the opportunity to combine two of my passions -- long-distance bicycling and climate change issues. What I found on the Ride itself was all I had hoped for, and more: an amazing community of intensely passionate environmentalists; a challenging physical experience; and inspiring speakers every night. In the end, I felt deeply changed by the experience.
~Jenny Nordstrom, Washington D.C.
"I participated in the 2009 Climate Ride and it was an amazing adventure filled with inspiration and connection. I'm glad to see Climate Ride is supporting TransAlt's mission of reclaiming our city streets and advocating for bicycling, walking and public transit as the best transportation alternatives."
~Colin Beavan, aka No Impact Man and Transportation Alternatives board member
"Bikes are about the best symbol we have on this planet. They're universally used by rich and poor around the world, they're a big part of the solution to the climate crisis, and bikes are just plain fun. At 350.org we're fighting to raise awareness and build a global movement around climate change, so there couldn't be a better fit for us than Climate Ride, with its strong sense of hope and possibility."
~Bill McKibben, co-founder 350.org
"Climate Ride 2008 was a true inspiration. It was amazing the way it attracted a full spectrum of people concerned about this crisis: activists, academics, and just everyday folks. When it comes changing our future for the better, there really is a common bond between people of different backgrounds, geographies, and points of view, and that bond is action. Action is what Climate Ride is all about."
~Wood Turner, Manchester, NY
"Working to tackle the massive issue of climate change on a day to day basis can feel like an overwhelming challenge. Seeing one hundred committed strangers unify from across the nation for the Climate Ride left me with a message of hopeful motion.....that together we CAN do this thing."
~Jake Stewart, Austin, TX
The Climate Ride is a powerful tool for change. It's not just the riders who feel the force - it's the friends and families who sponsor them, the TV audiences who see the media coverage, the people we meet along the route, the passersby who see us roll up at Capitol Hill, and the politicians who see our commitment to the cause. The ripples of change spread far and wide. For me personally, having only weeks before finished rowing 3000 miles across the Pacific to raise awareness and inspire action on climate change, Climate Ride was a hugely empowering opportunity to bond with a network of like-minded individuals. I have seen many Climate Ride alums in the weeks since the ride finished, and I know we will continue to work together to create a better, greener future for our world.
~Roz Savage, Eco-Adventurer, Writer, Speaker
"On Climate Ride I met experts from every field of work and climate enthusiasts from every state. Together we brainstormed how to solve climate change--while taking in the beauty and challenge of transporting ourselves, carbon-free, from New York to DC! Once there, I had a chance to meet my U.S. Senator. We had a half-hour one-on-one conversation that confirmed that our ride did raise awareness, that politicians are listening, and that we can work together toward a clean energy future."
~Allison Smith, Cambridge, MA
"Climate Ride 2008 was a transformational challenge for me. It was exhilarating to be there with all those hearts and legs pumping up one last hill -- Capitol Hill -- after five days of beautiful riding, unified in an effort to stop global warming."
~Evan O'Neil, New York, NY
"One of the top moments I will never forget was when one of the Climate Ride founders was thanking everybody for participating, hardly able to speak, with tears of emotion coming up her eyes, moved by the efforts and commitment everybody devoted to the cause. What a knot in my throat! We really shared something! Thank you for such a deep, wonderful experience."
~Daniel
"Epic is the word I use when describing our Climate Ride adventure. Everyone I met on the ride was legendary, supremely positive and inspiring. It was an honor and a joy riding and learning from them all."
~Betty Jean
"I have gained so much perspective on the climate movement by learning and riding on Climate Ride. I wish that the trip was 3,000 miles so that I could have gotten to know each and every Climate Rider better."
~Anna
"They were 5 unforgettable days, full of remarkable memories, incredible and committed people, all of which give me hope that change can happen. The ride was challenging, but nothing compared to the enormous challenge that we all face because of Climate Change. Let's keep working for a better planet."
