Here's a list of how Climate Ride creates the most sustainable multi-day cycling event in the country.  We think it's very important to keep our ride low impact and we help our riders to minimize their carbon footprint.

Carbon Offsets

Here at Climate Ride, we offset all carbon emissions, including rider travel to and from the event.  We can thank Clif Bar for purchasing the highest quality renewable and wind energy credits to offset the ride. 

Clif Bar has hooked up with NativeEnergy to create Cool Tags. They're renewable wind energy credits that offset CO2 emissions. Each Cool Tag keeps an estimated 300 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the air. (That's about how much you would generate driving 300 miles in an average car.)  Use this handy Carbon Travel Calculator to calculate your carbon footprint and then buy a Cool Tag.  Stick it in your window.  Do what you can to live a little greener.  We'll do the same.

Ridesharing 

PickupPal's service to Climate Ride will coordinate carpooling options to get riders and family members to the starting line and home again from the finish. Check back here soon for more details about signing up. 

No Bottled Water Waste!

On Climate Ride, you won't see plastic cups, bottles or any kind of throwaway waste that you typically see at sporting events.  Climate Ride has partnered with Brita to provide tasty filtered water at all stops and at camp.  Riders recieve water bottles and coffee mugs--all they need to enjoy beverages on the trip! There are plenty of goodies and drink coolers at our snack stops, but we downsize the unnecessary waste.

Hybrid and Veggie Oil-Powered Support Vehicles

When you have 200 people bicycling from NYC to DC or along the California Coast, you need support vehicles to provide for safety and bike maintanence.  Climate Ride uses hybrids and biodiesel vehicles to get the job done.  We calculate exactly how much support we need to provide the best service without overdoing it.
