Welcome Remarks in San Francisco
Phil Ginsburg is the General Manager of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. With more than 4,100 acres and over 220 parks under its jurisdiction, the Recreation and Park Department stewards one of the nation’s best urban park systems.
During his tenure, Ginsburg has increased access to public recreation through robust programs, summer camps and youth sports opportunities. Under Phil’s leadership, the department provides more than 8,000 scholarships and over $1 million in free programming to park users each year. Under Mayor Ed Lee’s leadership, Phil and his team are implementing nearly $500 million in playground, trail and facility improvements across the city, thanks to two voter-approved bond initiatives and numerous public-private partnerships.
