Climate Riders getting creative for the cause - hot friends included

Caeli Quinn on July 25, 2012, 3:15 PM

As we enter the final 6 weeks before Climate Ride, we love sharing the creative fundraising techniques that riders are using to shine the light on sustainability and bike advocacy. Riders are also getting press and getting featured online.

Amy Dickie is hosting a party where she's auctioning off dates with her, in her own words, 'awesome, hot, single friends who are doing amazing things for the environment, education, and the world in general.' Enough said! Dates will include gift certificates to fun things like kayaking lessons, the California Academy of Sciences, and Tartine.

And, this is a first! If you're in the Bay Area, a Climate Rider is hosting a garage sale to benefit Climate Ride in Bernal Heights. What's not to love...reduce and re-purpose your 'stuff' to raise funds for non-profits! And while, summer is San Francisco is notoriously cool, a rider is throwing an ice cream social to raise funds and awareness. It's always a good time to have ice cream!

Rider Profiles - See why we ride!

Find out why Kate is hot and bothered...and why she's riding for ACE - the Alliance for Climate and Education.

Find out why this geologist and environmental consultant picked World Bicycle Relief as one of his beneficiaries.

Find out why this bike commuter is stepping it up and riding 300 miles for Green For All and East Bay Bicycle Coalition!

Find out why this New Yorker got off the couch, got a bike and changed his life! Now he's set a goal that's even more ambitious - training for the California ride.

These are just a few of the stories of this year's riders and the extensive outreach they do on behalf of this cause. The Climate Riders have a huge impact - they reach out to tens of thousands of people as they fundraise for the organizations that they believe in. Their friends, family and colleagues are inspired by the physical and fundraising challenge that the riders have committed themselves too. If hundreds of Climate Riders can do this, so can you!
