Climate Ride California merges low-carbon bicycle exploration with the opportunity to engage in making the world a greener place. Addressing some of the most pressing environmental issues we face today-- whether its bike advocacy, green energy or protecting open spaces-- through their fundraising efforts, Climate Riders direct their funds to contribute to these efforts.  To keep you in this most impressive loop, take a minute to read and learn more about three: San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, the Solar Living Institute and the Greenbelt Alliance.

Creating safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is utilizing funds from Climate Rider support their Connecting the City initiative. This bold plan aims to build continuous, cross-town bike routes that are separated from vehicle traffic, so that people of all ages will feel comfortable and safe bicycling.

Promoting sustainable living through inspirational environmental education, the Solar Living Institute provides a variety of programs.  From managing the Solar Living Center, a 12-acre renewable energy and sustainable living demonstration site visited by 150,000 people annually, to regular workshops and courses, a biodiesel fueling station and it’s home to the Solar 2000 Array, providing 160,000 kWh of renewable energy annually.

The San Francisco Bay Area is designed for people to use bikes, walking and public transit as their preferred ways of getting around and Greenbelt Alliance is working to engage citizens and decision makers create walkable and bikable neighborhoods all bounded by a protected greenbelt of rolling hills, productive farmlands, lush watersheds, and plentiful parks.
