Beneficiaries at Work: Building Sustainable Solutions in your Local Community and Beyond
Climate Ride works to connect citizens to the environmental issues they care about most, allowing them to contribute to the non-profits that work to solve problems and promote solutions. Riders get behind phenomenal organizations working to build sustainability far and wide, so take a moment to learn more about three: Acterra, East Bay Bicycle Coalition and Green for All.
By bringing those living in the Silicon Valley together to create local solutions for a healthy planet, Acterra is providing people with tangible, hands-on activities individuals can do to improve the environment. Offering several thousand volunteer opportunities each year for adults and youth, from habitat restoration to carbon reduction programs, we teach people how to become effective environmental change agents in their communities, neighborhoods, workplaces and schools. Aside from Silicon Valley, Acterra is working to build programs to serve as models that others can emulate elsewhere.
Working to promote bicycling as an everyday means of transportation and recreation, the East Bay Bicycle Coalition support efforts to improve transit access, make bikeway improvements and offer secure bicycle parking at transit and most destinations. EBBC advocates for direct access on the seven transbay bridges so bicyclists have safe and easy access to the East Bay counties.
Green For All is dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans through a clean energy economy. Green For All works in collaboration with the business, government, labor, and grassroots communities to create and implement programs that increase quality jobs and opportunities in green industry – all while holding the most vulnerable people at the center of their agenda. Green For All is working to radically reducing the pollution that causes global warming, it will improve the health of our families and neighborhoods. And by creating millions of quality jobs and careers, it will pull America out of the current recession, strengthen our middle class, and better protect us from future economic turmoil.
