Do nothing…or join the movement.  Start fighting for the climate.  Get on your bike and change the world.

1)  US World Champion Free Skier and the Lazy Environmentalist sign up for Climate Ride; Denmark’s Ambassador to the US slated to speak

Things are heating up in the Climate Ride newsroom.  Alison Gannett, world champion Free Skier, Patagonia Ambassador, founder of the Save our Snow Foundation, and star of Warren Miller ski films will be pedaling from NYC to DC with the Climate Riders.  In her free time, Allison converted the 1st Solar-powered SUV PHEV in the world to get 100+MPG.  Did we mention that she also leads ski expeditions to Pakistan, Bolivia, Bhutan and India to document global warming?

Josh Dorfman, a.k.a. the Lazy Enviromentalist, who has a new show coming out on Sundance, will also return for his second year, to show that the Lazy E can ride 300 miles without training.  (We don’t advise this for anyone but Josh!)  Read more on Treehugger.

Friis Arne Petersen, Denmark’s Ambassador, will be joining us on night 4, right before we begin our journey to the US Capitol. In Denmark, bicycling is a part of the national character–Danes don’t think of themselves as cyclists, because everyone is a cyclist!  Learn more about Denmark’s hip biking scene on this Copenhagen bike blog.

2) Climate Rider Getting Creative on the Stationary Bike–Great Fundraising Ideas

Climate Riders in NYCWashington DC Climate Rider Erin O’Sullivan gets this week’s award for most entertaining fundraiser!  Erin contacted the manager at Washington Sports Club who agreed to let her set out a couple of stationary bikes, a table and a donation jar on a weekend to raise some cash.  If you’re near the WSC on Connecticut, north of Dupont Circle this weekend, stop by and give Erin a high-five and a donation!

Erin is also hosting another fundraiser–a raffle and happy hour at DC’s James Hoban Irish Bar on Monday, June 22nd, 6-9pm.  She’ll be raffling a $100 gift certificate to James Hoban, signed copies of Earth the Sequel, Lush beauty products and much more!

3) Climate Rider Chris Niebylski put together this Google map that shows the Climate Ride movement taking shape across the US.  Visit the map and find riders in your area. Climate Ride 2009 - Continental US Map.jpg

4)  Featured Climate Ride Partner:  CarbonRally

image001.jpgHere’s your chance to take small actions and make BIG IMPACT!  Climate Ride and CarbonRally are sponsoring a “bike commuting” carbon reduction challenge called “Work Your Wheelies”.  Nearly 30,000 people have been encouraged to take this challenge.  Collectively we can reduce our carbon impact and, here’s the cool thing, CarbonRally will help us track it.

You can join the Climate Ride Team on CarbonRally here. After you sign up be sure to click on the challenge Work Your Wheelies.  Accept a few more challenges so that the Climate Ride Team becomes a leader.  It will only take 5 minutes and does not cost anything.  EASY!

Please invite your friends to join our CarbonRally team.  The more the merrier–help us to grow the friends of Climate Ride.  Let’s build the Climate Ride Team and show that we mean business!

Thanks to our Title Sponsor Brita and Presenting Sponsor the Embassy of Denmark and COP15–the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
